Assuming you are either getting an original style EZ4 (the most commonly available) or modding an EZ4 lite of some form to fit I do not know if the gb player ended up with any hardware level linkups as an alternative but simply playing the EZ4 will be the same as playing the EZ4 in anything else. The only limits you will probably far are those of the GB player itself which mainly amounts to it not wanting to run GBA videos (for good reason- they are seriously low res on the GBA let alone scaled to TV sizes) although even then you have options http://www.caitsith2.com/gba_video_arv3.htm
In short I anticipate no issues. Also remember if you are getting a GBA size EZ4 then get a proper miniSD (and not a dealextreme/hong kong special) card rather than a microSD to miniSD adapter. I can not say I have gone miniSD shopping around your neck of the woods in recent years and in some places it is getting quite hard but put the time in finding one.
Lite, original, lite compact (not that is has any real GBA abilities), lite deluxe it makes no difference other that the lite versions will need a casemod to fit in a standard GB player (your original style EZ4 will be fine).
