Post subject: GBA Pokemon on EZ-Flash II working with Gamecube Pokemon?
Posted: Mon Jun 12, 2006 1:26 pm
So my kids just got into pokemon and they are playing pokemon on the GBAs and on the gamecube but I cant transfer data from my EZ-Flash II to the cube? Currently using EZ-Flash 1GB and trying to transfer games to the Pokemon Box.
I have tried loading the game with NO loader
With a loader
Turn off any type of save patch.
I dumped Emerald so I know its a pure dump. Any ideas? Thanks in advance
I'm afraid there's really no way to do it. I've tried lot's and lot's of different ways and googled for it, but no one managed to link the GBA pokemon games to any gamecube game successfully. It won't work with Pokémon Colosseum, Pokémon Box or Pokémon XD.
This is happens because the protocol to save game data on the flash cards is different to the official nintendo cards. The gamecube pokémon games, first send a program to the GBA. That program will then try to load the saved data of the pokémon card inserted and send it to the gamecube. Obviously it will not work because it's trying to load something that's not in the "language" it was expected (if you'r not using an official pokémon game).
If nintendo decided to make the pokémon ROM to directly upload the save to gamecube, then maybe it would have worked.
I believe someone had pokemon box working a while back as you wish.
Unfortunately I do not think I even have a cube game that can make use of the GBA linkup feature and specific game.
Pokemon titles, pinball aside, use Flash for saving so if you have an original cart you might wish to try writing your EZ2 save to it and then using it, what Blue_Ninja0 is correct.
A roundabout method sure but it is about the only thing that could get it working.
I have been able to get it to work only with an orignal Emerald cart, but you can use ez-client to save your emerald game from the ez-flash and flash it onto the orignal cart and it will work, that way you dont have to start your game over, pick up an emerald cart from ebay. Make sure you get the US version, because the JP version wont work.

I got the Gamecube to load/trade pokemon from my EZ Flash Cart II using a cable that connects a Gamecube to a Gameboy Advance. You can get these cables from Wal Mart or other major retailers or a video game store or an electronics store (Best Buy, Circuit City....) First put the game onto the Flash Cart so that it will work. Next (mind you this is with Pokemon Colloseum) get to the menu on the Gamecube Collosseum that says connect the Gameboy and turn on the power. At this point, plug the end that goes into the gameboy into the gameboy and turn on the power with the cart, do NOT connect the cable to the Gamecube's controller socket yet. Select the Pokemon Game (I was using Ruby) and right as the game boots plug the cable in and the Gamecube should recognize the game.
I've searched all over the forums and this one is the closest match.
I recently was given a EzFlashII Power Star and to the best of my knowledge the EZ3 linker with it(the EZ_Mode doesn't let me select any options and the driver is 1.54). I'm using EzClient v3.26 and I'm trying to get my savegame from Pokemon Ruby(ROM dumped from EZClient v3.26).
The savegame works flawlessly from VBA and also works flawlessly with the EZFlashIIPS cart. I'm trying to use it with Pokemon Box though and I can't get the savegame to write to the original cart. I know it doesn't work with the flash card, am I doing something wrong or is it plain just not possible to do this with the Linker I have?
If it is the linker then what options do I have for getting the game onto the original cart?
Bumping this, as I'm having the exact same problem. I just got an EZ2 from my friend, and I'm tearing my hair out in frustration trying to connect to my GC... please help, I beg you!
