It's been awhile since I've used my EZ Flash III 1 gig, so I decided to download the newest manager (2.20) and swap out some of the files. Unfortunately, when I plugged it in, the neither the new manager or the one I had been using (2.03) would recognize the cart. I followed the instructions on the sticky here in this forum to do a fresh install of the drivers, buuuuuttt...it didn't go so well.
The wizard was happy selecting the new drivers the first time it ran, then popped up the second time like it normally does. This time my computer crashed when it tried installing them again. I've repeated these steps several times and it keeps crashing at the exact same place -- right when the installation bar pops up. I've tried doing the drivers in several different orders to no avail...
Any thoughts on what's happening here? I haven't read any other posts that sound similar to this issue...

Try deleting all the relevant files in the system32 & system32/drivers folder. Same goes for the .inf file in the inf dir.
Then, the bad news. I'd use regedit and go through the registry cleaning out all traces of the driver files. Reboot and reattempt to install.
There is something screwy going on.
Hhmm, you don't have something like Norton's system works installed do you ? I'm pretty sure there is a program like that that will "protect your computer" by not allowing unsigned drivers to install. Could this be causing a conflict ?
Well, I deleted the drivers again and this time deleted the EZ-Manage folder from the registry. This time it took the 2.20 driver on the first popup and didn't give me the second one it usually does. It didn't crash, but the manager still isn't picking up the presence of the cart.
There's nothing else running that should make installing difficult... Any idea what to do from here?
