Not skinning animals. I mean skinning for Moonshell or whatever. Maybe this belongs in the Skins forum but since I'm not uploading any files with it I figured it would be better for V-Talk. So anyway...

I'm trying to make my first skin, and progress has been slow because apparently I suck. I've noticed that the FileSelectText line in skin.ini affects almost all text in the loader, from filenames to the text in the help screen. This is a problem because I have a dark background on my skin, but if I make filename text light to compensate for it, it makes the other menus ugly. Does anybody know a good workaround for this problem that won't involve me destroying my upper screen image? Any solutions would be much appreciated...

Ah, I guess this was the proper forum for it after all. Sorry!

The good news is I discovered my problem was actually due to a glitch in EZ-V Moonshell Skin Previewer. It calls upon the FileSelectText line for text colors in situations where they aren't actually used, such as the help file. Now that I realize this, there's no problem.

Can you give a bit more details so I can correct it? Didn't realize there was an issue

TitleD_Text should be used on:

- Help screen text
- Settings text
- Icon preview popup text

EZ-V skin previewer 0.104 is currently using FileSelectText for these screens.

I can see why these weren't picked up sooner - I usually set both of these settings to white.

I find it not so difficult as it time consuming, one skin for me takes about 4 - 6 hours.

yeah you need to be good at something like photoshop
i cant do it i mean i can draw purple lines everywhere in paint but thats it
but i was watching my brother and geez i cant even see what hes doing in all those options
but sure enough he gets glowing and shiny and 3D-looking stuff geez
but dont feel bad about getting someones skin and replacing the big pics to make your own
who cant resize a pic to 256x192 seriously
just dont try to release the skin and say you made it but for personal use i dont see problems

I'm a PS kid too, I need to learn Illustrator very badly though, I've only opened it up about 5 times so far. (BTW you sound exactly like my brother)

If i'm really trying to make a quality skin with detail and whatnot it'll take me that long. I can slap together a poor, but functional one in about 1-2 hours (including testing), depending upon how much BG image manipulation i need to do.

Anyway, if you want some help right now i'm not doing any skins for myself.

I think it would be kinda cool if we formed a usergroup of all the people to contact for making EZV skins. it would be much easier, and more organized.

@Jinnai: I was hoping someone else could come to me with some ideas, as I don't have any material for making any skins right now, just some skill. I'm kind of on call right now.

Yeah, if anyone wants to use some of my stuff for a skin, feel free as long as I'm given credit. I made a Wario thing in Paint that could be a good skin with some manipulation.
