Help!

I just got a GBM and EZ Flash IV and Mario ADV 2 and 4 aren't saving despite patching with gbat and using clean dumps. Also Goomba is not saving properly. I need an idiots guide to fixing saves. Any Help would be appreciated. Also how do I skin a GBA loader? Thanks

You may want to take a look in the EZ-IV Skins forum section.

I am a newbie myself and I have found that EZSkinner works like a charm!

Goomba saving issues are dealt with in one of the sticky threads: http://ezflash.sosuke.com/viewtopic.php?t=2801

For the record GBATA is normally used when EZ4 Client fails to patch a rom, this being said Mario Advance titles can pose a problem for some. All I can say is use a current loader (I put the new beta one on my site the other day: http://www.4shared.com/file/6887053/edb ... 25877.html ) and a up to date client. Kudos on using clean dumps too, much hassle could be avoided if more people took the time to make sure their roms were good.

FAST6191, I know the sticky thread with software updates here in this forum section, but where are the beta and final versions initially posted by the EZ4Client/EZ4Loader team?

What is the change log for the new EZ4Loader beta? (I can see it says v1.720 when I use it on my EZ-Flash 4 ROM)

The EZTeam occasionally post betas here or on the ezflash.cn forums or Raeca's site occasionally has them: http://www.tobitai.net/
The new beta loader just fixes some issues with the EZ4 deluxe.

Ok thx.

Since the ezflash.cn forums site and Raeca's site are both in Chinese, I (and probably many other non-Chinese speaking users) would be grateful if you (or someone else) would post about new betas for the EZ4Client, EZ4Loader or the Patcher file etc. in the EZ4 all series software update sticky thread in this forum section. :D

I came up with the same problem but I seem to have it sorted, it is not very graceful and I will fire an email towards the end of getting it fixed (I doubt it will be that complex).
It seems that regarding GBA games the EZTeam neglected to update the saving component of the games to greater than 8.3 file naming (which explains why I had it working when I tested it ages ago).
If you want me to spell it out rename your GBA rom with 8 or less charcters (SM2 and SM4 for super mario 2 and respecitvely for instance) and give it a .gba extension (.bin for EZ4 compact users) and repeat for the .sav file (naturally giving it the same name as the GBA rom) and play.
I tested it on my old SP and DS and saves appear to be working.

OK using Super Mario Advance 2 - Super Mario World (U) CRC 5206880A and Super Mario Advance 4 - Super Mario Bros. 3 (U) v.1.1 CRC32 88DAB27F and the latest client, patching update and loader.
Wrote both roms at the same time with save patch checked and reset unchecked to the root of my card.
Renamed to SM2 and SM4 respectively along with their save files.
Stuck it in my SP and got to a point worth saving, ran another game to clear the SRAM and make it a fair test.
Rebooted and my saves were still there.

I could try sorting some IPS patches out if you like and can not get it working.

How do you mean, in this case? GBATA can't send the ROMs to the miniSD card like the EZ4Client, and so saver patching can't be done in GBATA, no?

Just to make sure I get you straight: So with the newer versions of the EZ4Client you would have to rename ANY .gba file on the miniSD card (and corresponding .sav file) exceeding 8 characters, to 8 characters or less? Otherwise the save function won't work for any of such games?

Would it work if the long .gba file name was left untouched and the .sav file renamed manually to the same long file name?

Hmm, I have tested a few games, and it seems that EZ4 saves the games correctly even though the .gba ROM names are longer than 8 characters?

Also, FAST6191: If it really didn't work, your excellent GBA ROM renaming list would be obsolete, no?

I am really puzzled as to the length of the file name issue.

When and why is not allowed to have a .gba, .nds or .sav file of more than 8+3 characters?

When the EZ4Client sends the files to the miniSD card, it always renames the ROMs to long file names, according to the romlists.

It just seems to be some roms that have the issue (I have been playing and saving summon night for weeks with a nice long file name).

As for why I have no idea, it probably stems from the early upgrade to long file names.

Hi, I'm having the same problem with Advance Wars not saving. I tried renaming both the .gba file and save file but it still doesn't work.
