I played Advance Wars 2 some time ago. After formating the system, recently I put the game back, but with no save file. How is it possible that when I start the game my old file is recovered?
Does it have something to do with the sram?
Not bad with that, I can recover games I had erased and continue my progress without having to copy the save file in my cart, but there's a also a problem:
I have the same issue with another game (Polarium advance) but the save file seems corrupted or not working fine. Is there a way to erase the sram (if this is the cause o the mess)? How can I aboid this?
Which EZ manager version should I be using?
I've formatted it again with ez3 manager 2.20 (and[ND]V1.280) and there is the same problem:
When you start the game for the first time, first you must complete the tutorial and when you enter the normal mode, you must input the date.
But instead of this, after formatting (so erasing the savefile), the tutorial remains completed and when I enter the normal mode, it doesn't ask the date and I can't play any puzzle.
Yeah it's stored in an area that isn't wiped by EZCheck.
From inside EZManager -- System Settings -> compatible EZ PassMe2
Choose any sav file.
I noticed that a couple times the area that the 2nd generation of pass devices uses to store the programming code (sav) gets overwritten by a game. So hopefully this will correct it.

I formatted it, and then did as you cracker said, choosing a sm world save file.
Put it back in my GB micro, turn it on and.... the message of "low battery or first time" appears- good thing, a card apparently virgin again. BUT when I boot the game...guess what? same problem again!!
I assume it can't be a problem from the rom- wich difference it makes if I select eeprom type instead of the default flash type on save mode when I write the game on the card?
Basically, the problem was the rom...
It looks like that I'm not the only one having trouble with polarium-anyone out there?
And well, the other disfunctions I had were arranged by the advices you all gave me-so thanks!!
Cracker, your advice was pure genius!!!
And, to aboid further complications and considering that I'm not using ds soft, I went back to the good old ezmanager 2.08.
What an oddissey! The adventure of knowledge! AKA crappy days...
Anyway, If any of you has a clue to assure the proper use of polarium, just share it!!
The only thing I could do is downloading a sav of the game-let's hope it lasts!
