I recently bought a EZ-Flash cart with software that doesn't seem to work. How can i find out which cart it is, I've managed to install the device with the correct usb drivers and it recognises it as a EZ-Writer3.

you may want to lookat this thread too -http://www.sosuke.com/ezflash/viewtopic.php?t=975

What software do i need to write roms ? manager or client, i'm a little confused, the client allows me to write but when i put the cart into my gba micro the logo pops up and then the screen goes black > flashing start / select buttons.

the manager seemsd to work but the options fade out on the software and the green light goes red/green after a while. the seller of the cart isn't very helpful.

pease help

thanks

With the drivers installing right and showing an EZWriter3 then you _should_ have an EZ Flash III. It is orange see through plastic right? If not then there's something suspicious going on... Are you able to take a picture of it? Who did you buy it from?

nt: I have a gameboy micro

i bought this item from ebay, item number 8282931496, here is the link, it may not work as the auction has finished. I got some software on a disk (not original) but the software doesn't work.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8282931496&sspagename=ADME:B:AAQ:UK:1

i took a photo of it, it's grey as you can see,

http://www.dekkershome.demon.co.uk/sh/

there are some screenshots of the what happens when i load the latest software from http://www.ezflash.cn

The seller also gave me a link to his ftp ftp://giangdinh.mine.nu for some updated software. The usb drivers work great but i get these errors. see links. the manager laods with the add, remove buttons but after a few secs the options dissapear.

http://www.dekkershome.demon.co.uk/sh/

i can't think of anything else to say, when the rom seems to be downloading the machine flashes very quickly with red/orange, then goes back to greem when finished. my old system worked fine (the cart died) downloaded roms fine with the micro, this is a pig.

Ah you have the original EZ Flash. You can't use EZManager with it, only EZClient. EZManager is only for the EZF3.

You forgot EZ_Mode.exe

It's in the EZClient directory. Run it and tell it which cart you have. Once the app quits, unplug the EZWriter from the usb port (just yank the cable from the back of the linker), wait 2 seconds and plug it back in again. Then run EZClient and you should be fine.

I have been using 3.25 with little problems at all. Wonder how they managed to keep it on ebay long enough to sell, usually they are booted within 12 hours as "piracy enabling devices".

Cracker: all the new EZ1/2 carts being sold come with what installs as "EZWriter 3" - at least, the EZ1 256 (same as dekker's, $32USD though) and EZ2 512 PS I got about 6 months ago both came with that.

Dont be confused cory, it is an EZ-Writer 3.

Here's how it came about:

EZ-Writer shipped with the EZFlash 1 & 2
EZ-Writer 2 shipped with the EZFlash 3
EZ-Writer 3 ships with all carts.

EZ-Writer 1 & 2 can't read each others carts.

To combat this and to reduce manufacturing costs the EZTeam came up with the EZ-Writer 3. It supports all versions of the EZFlash carts. The linker (EZ-Writer) just needs to be told what mode to run in. This is done with the EZ_Mode.exe application.

It was all clear to me until you said that slade...

When I ordered the EZ1 I was actually kinda hoping for one of the old style, or at least different linkers, so it kinda surprised me... anyone with an EZ1 or EZ2 EZwriter feel like trading up?

Why would you want the older EZWriter?

sorry cory, my bad.

I should have said:

EZ-Writer 3 ships with all new EZFlash carts.

They've been using the EZ-Writer 3's for about 6 months now. It might be a bit longer. I'd say no more than 9 months though.

Dekker.

You will want EZClient 3.25 from the main downloads thread. Install the drivers if you haven't already. Run EZ_Mode.exe and choose the EZFlash 1/2. Click the Ok or ?? button and wait for the program to exit. You might want to wait 30 seconds or so before unplugging the EZ-Writer (linker from now on). EZ_Mode may send some commands to the linker as the program ends, Im not too sure.

Ok, unplug the linker, wait a few seconds and plug it back in again. Wait for the lights to do their dance and settle on green. Run EZClient and plug the cart into the linker.

You should be ready to rock n roll :)
